Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book with you?

Please visit the contact page and fill out the booking form. Provide as much detail as possible about your tattoo idea, including desired placement and size. If you only have a general idea of what you want and are not sure about size and placement that’s okay! At your consultation we can work together to realize your vision. With that being said, I do not take on every request if I feel that I am not the right artist for your project. I cannot reply to every email that I receive but if I feel that we will be a good match to work together you will hear back within a week and you will be given available consultation dates to choose from. If you live too far away to meet in person for your consultation we will organize a time to chat over Facetime or Skype. You must be 18 or older to be tattooed, ID will be cited upon meeting.

What happens at the consultation? How much is it?

When you come into the studio for your consultation please feel free to bring any reference material you have regarding your tattoo, whether it is your own drawing, photographs, or images saved on your phone. We will sit down together to look at plenty of material and discuss the details so that I can start to create the perfect design for you. There is no charge for the consultation itself, however if at the end of the consultation we decide to book a tattoo date I will require a deposit to confirm your booking. If you no-show for your consultation you will not be able to rebook in the future.

Deposits are $150 and are non-refundable. The deposit confirms your booking and allows me to start working on your design. The deposit goes towards the final cost of your tattoo (covering one hour of tattoo time). If you need to reschedule your tattoo appointment your deposit can be put towards a new appointment date as long as you give at least 48 hours notice. If you reschedule within 48 hours of your tattoo appointment you will lose your deposit and another one will be required to book a new date. Please understand that this policy is in place because if you reschedule the day before your tattoo it is difficult to prepare for and book in another client on such short notice.

What do you charge?

The rate for tattoos is $150 per hour, with a minimum charge of $300 (or 2 hours). Cash or e-transfer is the preferred method of payment but credit cards are also accepted.

When will I see my design? What if I want to make changes?

Be sure to check your email about a week before your tattoo appointment as I will be emailing you a copy of the tattoo design for your approval. Keep in mind that what I send you will be just the stencil, meaning it is the basic outline of the design and does not include any dotwork or shading yet. If there are any alterations you would like to make please reply to the email detailing your desired changes and I will be more than happy to redraw it as necessary before your appointment. Please be advised that if you request major changes to the design (eg. “I think I want an elk instead of an orca”) within 48 hours of your tattoo appointment I will be unable to redraw it within that time frame and we will need to reschedule the tattoo date. This will mean you will lose your deposit and will have to put down another one to confirm a new tattoo date.

How do I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

In the days leading up to your tattoo appointment please make sure you are rested, hydrated, and well fed. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL THE NIGHT BEFORE! If you show up to your appointment hungover your nervous system will not be thrilled with you and the quality of your tattoo will be compromised. You can read more about this here.

On the morning of your appointment please shower but DO NOT use any perfume, cologne, or lotion on your skin. Please DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES before your appointment as the shop is a scent-free zone. Wear clean, loose fitting clothing. While getting tattooed you will be able to listen to music or watch your favorite Netflix show on the shop TV so bring a pillow and some snacks! If we are doing a long session be sure to bring enough food and water to avoid the hanger. Bring an iPod, a book, slippers - whatever you need to feel comfortable! You are welcome to bring one human to accompany you if you wish.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers will not be considered for tattoo projects as the risks have not been sufficiently researched. Finally, the most important thing to know about getting a tattoo is how to care for it afterwards. I will provide you with some ointment and an instruction sheet that you can also read below. Improper aftercare (eg. suntanning, hot tubs, picking or scratching the tattoo) will result in poor healing. Please be diligent about caring for your tattoo as it will greatly affect the final look and longevity of your piece of body art.
